Bye bye August

Easy run this morning to loosen up the legs little after yesterday’s long run and finish up the month. Right quad still little tight but not getting any worse…so that’s a good sign.
Massage and Chiro today…can’t wait.

4 miles short and 22 miles long

Long run today. Still tightness in the right quad but definitely an improvement since yesterday. Foam rolling, stretching and ice seems to be doing the job. Tightness went away after couple of miles and did not return until the last two miles. Started safely around 8:15 min/miles and gradually picked the pace up through out [...]

Beggars can’t be choosers

Last night after work I went to see my Chiro for a little TLC. She did some ultrasound therapy, muscle stim, stretching and back adjustment…
Got up this morning at 4:30AM to get my 10 miler in before wife goes to work as my baby sitter canceled. That, I thought, was a huge accomplishment just by [...]

set back

As soon I dared to mention something about being injury free in one of my past blogs I knew I should’ve kept my mouth shut.
I woke up Thursday morning with very sore right quad and decided to take a day off. It did not getter any better today so I scrapped speed workout and went [...]

1000 miles

breakin 1000 miles today but what is so special about 1000 miles? Really nothing, not any more special than 100 or 2000 miles…it is just a nice round number, but what it does, it serves as a reminder of how truly blessed I am.
To be able to run and to do it injury free (knocking [...]

Beer Powered Run

Yesterday friend of my invited me over for their annual block party so my diet consisted of 6 beers, huge steak and excessive quantities of chips. I had a feeling today’s run would suck and I was right. I woke up feeling pretty crappy and the run felt about the same. I picked 8 min/mile [...]

Pace practice

So today was a pace practice run and absolutely gorgeous day. Unfortunately, legs felt heavy today for some reason but did manage to maintain good pacing, only two seconds faster
Medium long run tomorrow so will have to make sure to go easy as another 50+ mile week is pending.

Run easy

The strategy seems to have worked!!! Yesterday’s run got the calf loose and it felt better today (although not 100%). Who knew that saying ‘bite the dog that bit you” is true when it comes to running.
In the true spirit of the step back week and the calf issue, I kept today’s pace easy.
